Is that not a gorgeous picture of a perfect looking roasted Turkey? Wish it were mine, it is not, but I will have one in a few days, hopefully as gorgeous! In Canada, we celebrate Thanksgiving in October, which this year falls on Monday Oct. 11th. I am hoping to have four new recipes to post, done this weekend, for our Thanksgiving feast. So until then, this is a preview of what we will be having this coming weekend:
Gluten Free Apple Sage Stuffing
A Vegetable Medley (from my niece Tanya)
Gluten Free Coconut Cream Pie
Roasted Garlic Gingered Yams
Garlic Mashed Potatoes
Mass amounts of dark rich gravy
The Coconut Cream Pie, is a brand new recipe, the Vegetable Medley, Roasted Garlic Gingered Yams, and Apple Sage Stuffing are recipes I have been making for years, always on Festive Holidays. My DH and kids really like the traditional “fixings”, even though they are happy to try out new recipes, when it comes to Holidays, they always want the traditional ones.
Usually, I cook a Ham for Thanksgiving, but we had the opportunity to get 2 Free Range Turkeys at a really good price, so one will go into the freezer for Christmas. And usually I make Pumpkin Pie – one of my favorites, but we have 3 people that don’t care for pumpkin pie, can you believe it? So, having never made a Coconut Cream Pie before – I am looking forward to giving it a try. (I always have to sneak in one new recipe, can’t help myself)
I have a good friend who always does huge Seafood dishes for Thanksgiving and Christmas – Lobster, Crab, Prawns, Muscles – in various recipes. It has always been his tradition and I must say, they do sound scrumptious too.
We can hardly wait for this upcoming Festive Dinner Menu – recipes will be on the way!
What are some of your favorite, family traditional recipes for Thanksgiving? Do you try out new recipes each year too?
