My daughter and I shared this wickedly delicious meal the other night. I have not made Bearnaise sauce in years…so good! Ideally this is a dish that pairs wonderfully with Beef Tenderloin steaks – which we had a few nights ago. Then my daughter arrived with Phillips Crab Claw Meat. It is pasteurized and fully [...]
Let me start by saying I love the title of this cook book: Seasonal Recipes for Delicious Homegrown Food THE ZERO-MILE DIET COOK BOOK by Carolyn Herriot. (please forgive my pictures…we do have a new camera which I have yet had the time to learn.)
Carolyn Herriot is a local author from our hometown of Victoria, [...]
This chicken dish very closely resembles Chicken Cacciatore. The process is somewhat different – as I made it into a chicken cheese bake in the oven. We had this dish served over pasta, however, it would also be tasty served over rice.
Life in my neck of the woods is getting super super busy with work. [...]
This recipe was inspired by the Pioneer Woman’s Chicken casserole recipe. You can find Ree’s recipe here.
In my recipe – I made everything from scratch, my process was quite a bit different as well. Homemade creamy mushroom soup, and homemade season salt. And of course it is gluten free. There were great combination flavors in [...]
With this recipe, I decided to cook the pork tenderloin in a different way…..sooooo good! Usually, I will make some kind of marinade or sauce to cover the pork tenderloin, then I would roast it. This time I did it the other way around, by searing it first, then adding a marinade, then creating a [...]
UPDATE: I made this again the other night with leftover roast chicken and gravy…it was fabulous! The only thing I did different was to add re-hydrated dry wild mushrooms to the recipe and included the liquid the mushroom re-hydrated in along with some chicken stock, and the leftover gravy. A must try!

We love Quiche in this household. If you read my blog, you will see a few yummy Quiche recipes. You can not go wrong with bacon and cheese, in a homemade gluten free pastry crust – so decadent. So, I decided to add extra veggies to the mix – to perhaps not [...]
We love stews of any kind in this household. Especially on cold cold winter nights. I have posted a number of different stews on this blog, but have never made an East Indian Curry Beef Stew before. And winter is my favorite time of year for a good curry, so this recipe was perfect for [...]
This delectable dinner was served with many thanks to Katie, from Thyme for Cooking. If you love beets, chicken, red wine and balsamic vinegar…this is a meal for you.
The only changes I made to Katie’s recipe was to use fresh beets, which I cooked, fresh sage and I doubled the recipe in terms of the [...]
This is sort of like Chicken Cordon Blue, but different. Another “different” Cordon Bleu Chicken Recipe. I always have to play around…can’t help myself. This will serve two, so just increase amounts if you have more mouths to feed.
2 large skinless, boneless chicken breasts
1 dozen seasoned, baked cherry tomatoes (recipe below)
Basil, Fennel, and I used [...]
